Community Connections Society of Southeast BC is a long-standing regional provider of services and has a solid history of contract and fiscal management. We have operated for 30 years in the Kootenay region and currently manage over 2 million dollars in government service contracts for support to children and families.
Currently we provide: Kid’s Connections Preschool, East Kootenay Supported Child Development program, Traveling Advocate Program, East Kootenay Child Care Resource and Referral Program, Better Babies Pregnancy Outreach Program, East Kootenay Infant Development program, Children First program, Community Action Program for Children, Cranbrook Women’s Resource Centre, Homelessness Outreach Program, Behaviour Intervention Program, and Better at Home.
Our overarching goal is to continue to provide meaningful services and programs that respond to the needs of the clients that we serve.
Our accomplishments include:
Cranbrook Family Connections (CFC) – our organization played a key role in the conceptualization and development of this unique hub model of collaboration. In August 2007, five well established community service agencies co-located in one central facility, creating what is now know as CFC. The five primary agencies include: Better Babies Pregnancy Outreach program, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, ANKORS, an HIV and AIDS organization, Options for Sexual Health program and a variety of Early Childhood Development and literacy programming. Our Society houses the contract for the building lease from the City of Cranbrook and was also successful in obtaining a contract for a Coordinator position. CFC has become a successful central community access point for support and education, early childhood development, youth development, health promotion and awareness.
Kids Connection Preschool – in September 2007, we opened our first preschool in response to an identified community need for quality, licensed child care. The preschool provides 60 spaces for children 3 ½ to 5 years of age. We have a waitlist of approximately 70 children. Our vision is “to provide a quality, inclusive and developmentally appropriate preschool service that utilizes a nurturing environment through strong community connections and intentional teaching practices” and we believe we are.
East Kootenay Supported Child Development Program – during a recent successful 3 year accreditation the program received an exemplary conformance to standards for their inclusion practices.
